Putin: Russia has its plan in Syria

Turning the military conflict in Syria into political one is possible, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has said during a big news conference on Thursday.

“There is no other way to settle the conflict; it is better to do it earlier than later. It will reduce the number of threats, including Europe and the USA,” the Russian president said.

According to Putin, Russia does have a plan for conflict settlement in Syria, and it partially corresponds with proposals made by the USA: “Control over early elections, the elections themselves, recognizing their outcomes.”

“We shall continue our strikes and support offensive of the Syrian army as long as it is doing it. France used to say that it is necessary to combine forces of the Syrian army and the opposition in fighting ISIS… We have established contacts with the some Syrian oppositionists. These are the people who want to fight the ISIS and are doing so. We are supporting them by Russian air strikes,” Putin says.

ISIS (or DAISH) is a terror organization banned in Russia.
