In Estonia, the Auver power plant has failed. The repair will take two weeks. While the country is lucky with the weather and prices do not change.

"The Auvere power plant of the Eesti Energia company has suspended work due to a malfunction that occurred on Thursday evening. According to forecasts, the repair of the breakdown will take about two weeks, "ERR reports.

Lennart Komp, head of communications at Eesti Energia, told the publication that the malfunction occurred in the ash removal pipe.

"The duration of the repair is primarily due to the fact that the power plant now needs to be cooled. It will take about three days to cool down, since the ash that moves through this pipe has a temperature above 500 degrees," said Lennart Comp.

According to him, after cooling, it is necessary to prepare work for cleaning the pipe, then perform them, carry out installation, drying and other related work.

"This is the reason for the two-week deadline. This is a breakdown that has not occurred before. It is not related to previous malfunctions and did not manifest itself during the summer maintenance," said the representative of Eesti Energia.

The Auvers power plant with a capacity of 300 MW is strategic for Estonia, as it can account for up to a third of electricity generation in the country. According to ENTSO-E, as early as October 8, its used capacity reached 233 MW and was second only to wind generation.

The last time the power plant was under unplanned repair was in January-February of this year, and its breakdowns become a slight shock to the market every time, as this affects wholesale electricity prices. This time, this is not happening yet due to favorable weather for green energy and inexpensive imported electricity.

Today in Estonia sells electricity at an average of 27.5 euros per MWh.
