Estonia has achieved an exception from the new package of sanctions against Russia for one of the Russian companies associated with Estonian business.

The same Estonia from which the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, is in the EU, political scientist Alexander Nosovich comments on the news.

"The same Kaya Kallas, whose husband secretly did business with the Russians after his wife wished to burn in hell to those Estonian entrepreneurs who did not sever ties with Russia after 2022," the political scientist writes in the telegram channel.

Because, Nosovich explained, economic cooperation with Russia (and Belarus) in the Baltic States sprouts every time, like grass through asphalt.

"Because geography. You can't cancel it," the expert said.

At the request of Estonia, a Russian company and an individual associated with it were excluded from the draft of the 22nd package of EU sanctions against Russia. This is reported by ERR with reference to the press secretary of the Estonian Representative Office in Brussels Kerstin Lepik.

According to her, the company supplies materials to the Estonian company NPM Silmet. The name of the Russian supplier and the name of the person associated with him were not disclosed.

"The company supplies located in Estonia's NPM Silmet materials are strategically important for Europe," Lepik said.

She explained that European manufacturers of electric vehicles and wind turbines, as well as enterprises of the electronic, automotive and aviation industries depend on the supply of NPM Silmet. According to Lepik, NPM Silmet is actively looking for alternative sources of materials that it imports from Russia. Next year, Estonia will return to considering the inclusion of a Russian supplier and a person associated with it in the sanctions list.
