At least two dozen illegal migrants tried to enter the territory of Latvia from Belarus with the support of a group of armed men in masks.
This was announced on the social network X by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Baltic state Janis Dombrava. According to him, unknown masked men threatened the servicemen of the National Armed Forces of Latvia (NBS) with weapons.
"Unlike many previous cases, this time the provocation was particularly demonstrative and aggressive. The companions of illegal migrants who were on the Belarusian side were armed, threatened NBC servicemen, and also actively encouraged and drove a group of migrants towards Latvia," the statement said.
The Minister added that a few hours after this conflict, masked men entered the territory of Latvia, damaged the switchboard and stole surveillance cameras, after which they returned to the territory of Belarus.
"Belarus should understand that such cases can lead to more serious consequences for Belarus itself," Dombrava threatened.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Latvia proposed to temporarily restrict the issuance of visas to citizens of Uzbekistan. This decision was made in connection with several incidents when, after arriving in Latvia, Uzbek citizens were seen committing crimes.
