The Cardinal is going to Russia

The Cardinal of the Catholic Church will come to Moscow on the Ukrainian crisis. Matteo Zuppi confirmed the visit.

Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Special Envoy of Pope Leo XIV, told TASS that the pontiff personally oversees his mission in Ukraine. He is going to pay a visit to Russia on September 28-30.

"All this is part of the humanitarian mission, which was first entrusted by Pope Francis, and then confirmed by Pope Leo XIV… I am instructed to support the efforts of the parties to solve the problems of children, the exchange of prisoners, as well as the solution of civil problems that have arisen as a result of the conflict," the cardinal said.

This will be Matteo Zuppi's third visit to Moscow since May 2023.
