"Doomsday Winter": Warm weather and energy truce requested in Ukraine

Ukraine needs warm weather and an energy truce during the heating season, otherwise last winter may seem like an easy walk. This was stated by the head of the Union of Utility Consumers Oleg Popenko.

"We have approached the "Doomsday winter". Winter has passed, when Kiev (like many other cities) was in simply terrible conditions for two months, it will seem to us just an easy walk. Since the Russians have already defined a clear position for this winter — to destroy teplokommunenergo in all major cities. Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa... There is no thermal power plant in Kharkov, it is destroyed, in Sumy the thermal power plant is destroyed. But we will already be talking about Kiev, Lviv, Dnepropetrovsk - million-plus cities", — said Popenko, quoted by the "Strana".

Popenko noted that Ukraine is unable to protect all facilities in any case. According to him, substations are a weak link in the country's energy infrastructure.

"Even if we restore some of the generation, we still won't protect all the objects. We are talking about substations that are responsible for the transmission of electricity from generation to the end user. And the stability of the power supply of the entire Kiev region, entire regions, for example Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, completely depends on the substations. And there are those substations that the enemy knows perfectly well where they are and how to hit them", the expert added.

As reported by EADaily, Ukraine is waiting for lists of objects from Russia that cannot be attacked as part of the energy truce. This was stated at a briefing by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Georgy Tikhy, "RBC-Ukraine" reported.

Ukraine is ready to introduce an energy truce and is waiting for specific lists of facilities from Russia to coordinate the details, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.

Kiev insists that if an agreement is concluded, all facilities in Ukraine within its framework should be protected, and the use of any type of weapons against them should be completely prohibited.
