US President Donald Trump decided to punish Spain. He stated this at a press conference during the Ankara NATO summit, according to the Internet channel DRM News.
"Please stop all trade with Spain, including visits. Watch them run back. He (Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez — approx. EADaily) will run back. They treat Mark Rutte terribly," the head of the White House said.
He added that he demanded that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent "stop all trade with Spain."
"I don't want to have anything to do with Spain," Trump further said.
Earlier, Spain refused to allow the use of its military bases for US operations against Iran, and also temporarily restricted the passage of American military aircraft through its airspace.
