Buffer zone on the border of Russia and Ukraine is being created because of the aggressive nature of the Kiev regime. This was announced today, July 5, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Pskov.
According to him, the buffer zone on the border of Russia and Ukraine is being created systematically.
"Based on the aggressive nature of the Kiev regime, in order to insure the safety of our citizens, we will have to create a security zone, or a buffer zone. It is being created, created systematically. There are already significant results in terms of advancing our troops. And no one should have any doubts that this zone will be created to the extent necessary to ensure our security," he said.
Peskov also stressed that "our troops are advancing."
"No one here should have any doubts that our military is proceeding systematically, and we are seeing concrete results," the spokesman said.
As one of them, the Kremlin representative called the liberation of Konstantinovka.
"This is a very significant milestone, it is the most important step towards taking the general fortified area of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk," Peskov added.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin announced the need to create a buffer zone. In the spring of 2025, it was about the territories adjacent to the Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions. In July 2026, the Russian leader said that the more the Ukrainian Armed Forces hit the infrastructure, the more Russia will have to make a security zone. After that, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, clarified that, based on current realities, the new buffer zone would at least partially cover the territories of Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.
