Spain, following Italy, has increased the time for Russians to consider applications for visas, explaining this with too many applicants.
The Spanish visa application center BLS has increased the time for processing applications for Schengen visas to 45 days from the date of receipt, according to its website. The changes are associated with an increase in the number of applications. Applicants were advised to submit documents in advance and take into account the new processing deadlines.
Earlier, similar measures were taken by the visa operator of the Consulate General of Italy in Russia VMS. The center reported that due to the high number of applications, processing of documents now takes at least 60 days. Until 2025, Italian visas to Russians were issued in 20 days. VMS also recommended submitting documents no later than three months before the planned trip.
