More than a thousand American servicemen and equipment are leaving Lithuania. Lithuanian media write about this.

It is reported that the US military is leaving Lithuania due to the completion of the next rotation. It is noted that they should be replaced by a new group of military, but when exactly this will happen and what their numerical strength will be is still unknown, as the United States is reviewing the deployment of armed forces in Europe. This means that the US military will not be in Lithuania for longer than usual. At the same time, in recent years, the rotation of American military personnel has been almost continuous — while some military personnel were returning to their places of permanent deployment, units that replaced them were already beginning to arrive in Lithuania.

"We have received very clear assurances from the Americans that the military has been and will remain, but I cannot name a specific number today. The rotation of the US military is connected with logistics, therefore certain time intervals are possible," said Deivydas Matulenis, Chief adviser to the President of Lithuania on national security issues.

According to him, Vilnius looks at the current situation "quite calmly and sees no need to raise additional discussions because of this."

Recall, the US military has been regularly deployed in Lithuania since 2019. Recently, Washington has transferred their presence to the format of continuous rotational deployment. These reinforced battalions usually numbered about a thousand or more troops with various military equipment. In May 2026, Washington announced the suspension of the deployment of 4 thousand military personnel in Poland. However, then Donald Trump announced that 5 thousand American troops would be deployed in the country.
