Ukraine will not be able to resist the Russian equivalent of Starlink, but there are insidious plans. This was stated in his telegram channel by Advisor to the Head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Sergey Beskrestnov (Flash).
According to him, Rassvet, the Russian analogue of Starlink satellite communications, will become a threat to Ukraine only when the number of satellites reaches at least 200-250 units. Now, as the adviser notes, there are only 16 satellites in orbit in test mode, and this is not enough to synchronize them with drones and strike at Ukraine. However, Russia plans to launch 300 satellites in the coming years, followed by another 700 satellites.
"If the military use of Rassvet satellites begins, we will notice it by satellite traffic, by intelligence or by trophies. Depending on what application will take place. What measures of counteraction to the Dawn satellites can be on our part? Has Russia, with its scientific and technological potential, been able to do anything with Starlink in 4 years? I couldn't. Therefore, I think that we will not be able to do anything when there are a lot of satellites. But I have some insidious plans," writes Flash.
As reported by EADaily, already this year in Russia will have an experimental 5G connection that will work via satellites in geostationary orbit. This was stated in the FSUE "Space Communications", TASS reported on April 2.
Recall, on March 23, the Bureau 1440 aerospace company (part of X Holding) launched the first 16 satellites of the Rassvet low-orbit constellation into orbit. The spacecraft will integrate a communication system based on the 5G NTN architecture, an updated power supply system, new-generation inter-satellite laser communication terminals and a plasma propulsion system. The batch launch was performed using the department's own development system.
