The leader of the Tisa party, which won the parliamentary elections, Peter Magyar, said he would continue the migration policy of Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"I'm going to strengthen the border even more. I have made it clear to the President of the European Commission and to every European leader that Hungary takes a very tough stance on illegal migration. We do not accept any pacts or redistribution mechanisms. And we will maintain our border fence on the southern border and repair it, because there are gaps in it. We are honest and want to protect Europe and Hungary from illegal migration. There are legal forms of migration that we accept, but illegal ones are not," Magyar said.
The Ukrainian opposition blogger Anatoly Shariy commented on Magyar's statement.
"In a month he will ask to call him Victor," said Shariy.
Earlier, Peter Magyar said that the current Prime Minister Viktor Orban could lift the veto on granting Ukraine an EU loan of 90 billion euros after the launch of the Druzhba oil pipeline. He confirmed his position that Hungary, as previously planned, will not participate in financing the loan for Ukraine. However, according to the future prime minister, his country will not prevent Kiev from receiving assistance.
Hungary is blocking the provision of an EU loan of 90 billion euros to Kiev due to the termination of the transit of Russian oil via the Druzhba oil pipeline. Budapest and Bratislava consider this decision of Ukraine to be politically motivated. After the victory of the Magyar, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, announced that the repair of Druzhba would be completed by the end of April.
Magyar hopes to take office on May 5.
