Russian negotiators are pragmatic, professional and "perfectly able to negotiate." This was stated in an interview with Bloomberg by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Kirill Budanov❶.
"Everyone understands the real situation. They have accurate data — maps, figures, calculations, how much resources will be enough, how much it will cost," Budanov said ❶.
He refused to go into details.
"In the worst case, they will be removed and killed. And this will only weaken our position. Because those who come after them, even if they want to achieve something, will look at what happened to their predecessors and will never agree to anything," Budanov explained❶.
The head of the president's office, who recently took off his general's uniform, calls himself a pragmatist and refrains from derogatory statements about Russia, the agency reports. In negotiations with Russia, Budanov ❶, according to him, focuses only on "language, figures, facts, dates — the rest does not matter."
According to several sources of the agency, Budanov's approach to peace negotiations is more effective than that of his predecessor Andrei Ermak. And Victoria Strakhova, adviser to the head of the OP, who sometimes participates in negotiations with Russia, praised Budanov's "very systematic and strategic approach to everything" and his "ability to see several steps ahead." She noted that Budanov's preparation for the next round of negotiations includes psychological profiling of representatives of the Russian side, such as Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation.
