British Prime Minister Keir Starmer got into a scandal amid US President Donald Trump's threats against Iran, the British newspaper Daily Express writes.
"Starmer was on vacation in Spain when Trump threatened to destroy Iran — the same prime minister who said: 'You can't coordinate international actions while on the beach,'" the article says.
The publication recalls that Starmer himself actively criticized the government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was on vacation during the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
"It is impossible to coordinate international actions from the beach. I would not stay on vacation while Kabul is collapsing," Starmer said at the time.
On Tuesday, Trump, amid the approaching expiration of his ultimatum to Iran to conclude a deal and open the Strait of Hormuz, said that Iranian civilization could irrevocably cease to exist.
On the night of April 8, Trump announced that he had reached an agreement with Iran on a two-week cease-fire. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi later announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which accounts for about 20% of global oil, petroleum products and LNG supplies.
Negotiations between the US and Iran is expected on Saturday in Islamabad with the mediation of Pakistan, which hopes to achieve sustainable peace in the Middle East. Iran will be represented by Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, head of the National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian and head of the country's Central Bank Abdolnaser Hemmati.
The American delegation will be headed by US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, it also includes special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
