Near the village of Sabyndy, Akmola region, there was a breakthrough of the Shoptykol dam, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan reported on Monday. According to the agency, operational work on the safe passage of water is underway at the scene of the incident. The forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local executive bodies, the district police department, as well as road services are involved in the elimination of the consequences.
"In total, about 170 personnel and 43 pieces of equipment were involved. Measures are being taken to strengthen the dam, fill out inert materials and drain water," the report says.
In turn, the national company "KazAvtoZhol" reported that the water spreads through the fields in the direction of the settlement of Sabyndy and crosses the republican highway "Astana — Korgalzhyn" at the 75th kilometer.
"Currently, the road services of the Akmola regional branch are taking operational measures to ensure the safety of the republican highway. 14 units of specialized equipment and more than 30 road workers are involved. Procurement and delivery of inert materials is carried out. A three—point culvert is functioning normally at the site, providing 100% water flow," the company said in a statement.
