Under the law on retaliation: 19-year-old Iranian wrestler executed

19-year-old Saleh Mohammadi, a wrestler from the Iranian youth national team and a prize-winner of the 2024 international competitions, and two other young people were executed by hanging in accordance with the law on retaliation, local media reported. The execution took place today, March 19.

It is reported that they participated in anti-government protests in Qom on January 8, 2026.

Saleh Mohammadi from Qom was sentenced to death for the alleged murder of a policeman during protests on January 8, the Iranian human rights organization Iran Human Rights NGO reported earlier. The court rejected Mohammadi's claims that his confession was obtained under torture and ruled that his execution should be carried out in public at the scene of the alleged crime.
