The coalition agreement of the new government adopted in the Netherlands is an interference in the internal affairs of Slovakia. This is stated in the protest of the Slovak Foreign Ministry, transmitted to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Jules Gerzon.
The coalition agreement of the new Government of the Netherlands regarding Slovakia states: "... We will stand firmly against countries that are actively undermining Europe, such as Hungary and Slovakia, promoting in Europe the simplification of the procedure in accordance with Article 7 (Treaty on the European Union — EADaily) to make it easier to deprive countries of the right to vote. Hungary will lose the right to European money. In Europe, we will promote the abolition of unanimous decision-making in the field of common foreign and security policy."
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, on the instructions of the head of the Department, Juraj Blanar, summoned on Monday the Ambassador of the Netherlands, Jules Gerzon, to protest.
"Even before the appointment of a new minority government in the Netherlands, Slovak diplomacy transparently conveyed reservations to Dutch partners through standard diplomatic channels, and also called for an open dialogue on these issues. Unfortunately, without an adequate response from the Netherlands, the false statement remained in question in the coalition agreement," the ministry said, adding that Slovakia appreciates good relations with the Netherlands.
At the same time, according to the Slovak Foreign Ministry, they should be based on mutual respect, understanding and equal partnership, and not on guardianship. The Ministry stressed that each Member State The EU has the same right to protect its national interests. Bratislava warned that this right should not be denied to countries by threatening to deprive them of the right to vote from another member state, as indicated in the coalition agreement of the new minority government of the Netherlands.
"We strongly object to this and consider the preservation of the right of veto in those areas where it is still valid, crucial for the future The EU is a group of states where decisions are not made by great powers, but each country — even the smallest — has its own sovereign voice," the Slovak Foreign Ministry said.
According to the Ministry, Slovakia, as a sovereign member state, has the right to express its point of view and expect respect from partners. The Ministry also noted that "the Slovak Republic respects the different points of view of other countries, even if it does not agree with them."
"This is the foundation of the European political culture and the principles on which the Union was founded. That is why we are taking this decisive step and will continue to openly declare our sovereign position in the EU in the interests of its development, and we are ready to conduct a meaningful dialogue with the Netherlands as well," the Slovak ministry concluded.
Recall, a number of EU countries criticize Slovakia for its attempts to pursue an independent policy, primarily with regard to Russia and Ukraine. In particular, Bratislava is blocking the adoption of decisions on the provision of financial and military assistance to Kiev due to the hostile position of the Kiev regime towards this republic.
