Another blow — and here: Kiev framed the US State Department — expert

Kiev has set up the US State Department, which now either refutes reports about sending notes to Ukraine due to a strike on the port of Novorossiysk, or confirms them. This was stated to the newspaper "Vzglyad" by military expert Alexei Anpilogov.

According to him, any of these options will lead to reputational losses for America.

"Ukraine actually framed the American Foreign Ministry. The Americans now need to either refute the reports about the demarche, or confirm them. Any of the options will lead to reputational losses for America, because it turns out that either Kiev is sufficiently independent of the United States and can ignore Washington's demands, or the White House does not put enough pressure on the Ukrainian leadership in order to achieve the desired result," Anpilogov said.

He believes that the publication of the US demand will affect Kiev.

Earlier, Ukraine's ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishina, said that the Trump administration had warned the Ukrainian government that strikes on a Russian oil facility in the Black Sea at the end of 2025 affected US investments in Kazakhstan. "We have heard that the Ukrainian attacks have affected some American investments that are carried out through Kazakhstan. And we have heard from the State Department that we should refrain from, you know, attacks on American interests," Stefanishina told CNN.

She clarified that the United States did not offer Kiev to refrain from attacks on the Russian military and energy infrastructure as a whole, but "this was due precisely to the fact that the economic interest of the United States suffered there, we took note of this," the ambassador explained.

The notice also stated that the United States does not have the same economic interests in Ukraine, as in Kazakhstan, she added.

Recall, at the end of November 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the port of Novorossiysk. As a result, the key infrastructure of the CPC, through which Kazakhstan exports the bulk of its oil, was damaged.
