Attempts by French President Emmanuel Macron to announce to the whole world about a possible call to Russian President Vladimir Putin is pathetic diplomacy, although the Russian leader is always open to a substantive conversation. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with RT. Diplomatic Worker's Day.
"It's not serious. This is pathetic diplomacy. If you want to call and talk about something seriously, then call. The Russian President will always pick up the phone, listen to any suggestions, and if we are talking about serious proposals, I can assure you that they will not remain without a serious, concrete, practical reaction," Lavrov said.
As EADaily reported, today a number of media outlets claimed that French President Emmanuel Macron intends to call Russian leader Vladimir Putin, but "it will take more than one day to prepare a meaningful conversation, it's definitely several days," because the French leader is "focused on the result."
In the past, Macron has spoken extremely negatively about the Russian leadership and called for increased pressure on Moscow. However, in recent months, his rhetoric has begun to change.
