Dig up bodies? On Ukraine begins the war for Kiev Arlington

The 3rd Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine called on the public to stand up for the defense of the Ukrainian Arlington near Kiev, so that the military would not have to defend it. This is reported by UNIAN.

So they commented on the decision of the Supreme Court, which declared illegal the transfer of a forest plot to Gatna community of the Kiev region under the National Memorial Military Cemetery.

The other day, the collegium of the Supreme Court rejected the cassation appeals of the Kiev OVA and the state institution "National War Memorial Cemetery". The court confirmed the decisions of previous instances, which recognized the seizure of land for the memorial complex as illegal, and agreed with the argument that these lands are included in the reserve fund, where logging is prohibited. According to Ukrainian media, this decision actually stops construction at the cemetery, although burials have been going on there since August 2025.

The plot near Markhalevka is far from the best option, but at least this cemetery is working, unknown soldiers and those who died in Mariupol are buried there, said Elena Tolkacheva, head of the Angels patronage service, with the call sign Gaika.

"What choice does the court actually put us before? To dig up the bodies of those who died for Ukraine? We will definitely not allow the dignity of the dead to be trampled on... and their graves to be desecrated. Now it is the responsibility of the state to find a legal way out of the situation created by the court decision," Tolkacheva said.

As EADaily reported, on the day of remembrance of the "defenders of Ukraine", a National war Memorial Cemetery was opened near Kiev, designed for a total of 120 thousand places. The first burials took place on the very first day, UNIAN reported.

Vladimir Zelensky, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky, Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko and others took part in the opening ceremony and honorary funeral. As reported by the Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Natalia Kalmykova, the construction of the first stage of the cemetery continues and the construction of the second has already begun.
