Abnormal frosts will come to Russia

Temperatures significantly below normal are forecast in the regions of the Northwestern, Central, Southern Federal districts, as well as the Volga region, the Urals, Siberia and the Far East, the minimum values in the regions of the Asian part of the country will be below minus 40 degrees, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand told Interfax.

"The East Siberian anticyclone leads to the fact that by the end of the week and at the beginning of next week very cold weather at different times will be over the Asian part of the country and in the southern half of the European territory. Everywhere temperatures will deviate from the norm by double digits," Vilfand said.

So, in the Northwestern Federal District (NWFD) in the period from January 21 to 23 in the Arkhangelsk region, the temperature is projected to be 10 degrees below normal with minimum values up to minus 29 — minus 30 degrees. The coldest weather in the NWFD will be in Komi, where in the period from January 21 to January 24, the temperature is forecast to be 8-14 degrees below normal with minimum values up to minus 33 — minus 35 degrees. In the Leningrad region, the temperature is forecast to be 7-9 degrees below normal by the end of the week, the night temperature will be about minus 20 degrees.

In the center of the European part of Russia in the coming days, the temperature will be 8-14 degrees below normal, the minimum values are from minus 20 to minus 27 degrees, and in Kostroma region — up to minus 31.

"And even in the south of the Central Federal District the temperature is minus 20 — minus 27 degrees. and in Tambov and Ryazan regions — up to minus 29 degrees in the period from January 23 to January 25," Vilfand said.

Cold weather is forecast in the coming days in the regions of the Volga Federal District: "the temperature on the Volga is 13-18 degrees below normal."

In the northern half of the Volga Federal District, according to Vilfand, there will be very severe frosts — from minus 27 to minus 35.

"And it's not hot at all in the south: on January 23-25, the temperature is 12-18 degrees below normal, and in Bashkortostan from January 21, 8 degrees below normal. In Saratov, Penza, Samara regions from January 23, the temperature is minus 27 — minus 35 degrees," he added.

In addition, "very cold weather," as Vilfand specified, will be in the regions of the Southern Federal District. With the exception of the Krasnodar Territory and Adygea, in the period from January 23 to January 25, the temperature is forecast to be 5-11 degrees below normal with minimum values from minus 11 to minus 19 degrees, and in Volgograd region — up to minus 26 degrees. In the Krasnodar Territory, the temperature will be 5-6 degrees below normal, the minimum values are minus 10 — minus 12 degrees.

"On In the Urals, both in the south and in the north, it's cold everywhere. Even in the south, in Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan regions, the temperature has been 10-19 degrees below normal since January 22 — from minus 32 to minus 40," Vilfand said.

In Siberia — in Tomsk, Omsk, Kemerovo, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk regions, in the center and in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory — from Wednesday to the end of the week the temperature will be 7-14 degrees below normal, and in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory "even 17 degrees below normal."

"And the temperature is below 40 degrees everywhere — minus 42 — minus 46," Vilfand said.

In the Far East it will be very cold in Buryatia in Transbaikalia. According to Vilfand, on January 21 and 22, temperatures in the range of minus 37 — minus 42 degrees are forecast there.

At the same time, very warm weather due to the casting of warm Pacific air will be in Chukotka, where the temperature is expected to be 20-25 degrees above normal. The temperature will rise to thaw values, and in the Kolyma Region — to minus 15 — minus 18 degrees, which is "incredible warmth" for this area.
