The Finnish police are continuing the investigation into the breakage of a telecommunications cable in the Gulf of Finland. The local Coast Guard detained the cargo ship Fitburg. One crew member was banned from leaving the country, and they want to put the other in custody.
"The police are requesting the arrest of an Azerbaijani citizen. An exit ban has been imposed on a Russian citizen," Yle reports.
Earlier, the Finnish edition noted, the police imposed a travel ban on two sailors.
"Thus, of the 14 crew members, three are currently under a travel ban," Yle continues.
As EADaily reported, on December 31, the Finnish authorities detained the Fitburg vessel, which was sailing from St. Petersburg to Haifa and allegedly dropped an anchor that could damage the Elisa telecommunications cable. Now the ship is in the port of Kantvik in Kirkkonummi.
