Kiev's bold and responsible decision on Donbass, which Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov spoke about the day before, is the complete withdrawal of the armed forces beyond the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
This was emphasized at a briefing by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
"Of course, this is the withdrawal of the regime's armed forces from Donbass beyond the administrative borders," the Kremlin spokesman said.
According to him, the Kremlin will be able to evaluate the talks between American President Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky after it receives information from the United States.
"We don't know how they [Zelensky and Trump] passed, so we can't assess," Peskov said, answering the question of how the Kremlin would assess the outcome of the talks in Florida.
"Following these conversations, the two presidents, I mean the President of Russia and the President of the United States, agreed to call again. Then we will get the information," the spokesman explained.
Peskov said that the telephone conversation between Putin and Trump will take place "in the very near future."
Journalists asked the Kremlin spokesman if Trump and Putin's idea of a Christmas truce on Ukraine, to which he replied:
"No, I'm not."
As EADaily reported, on December 28, Trump and Zelensky met at the estate of the American leader Mar-a-Lago in the vicinity of West Palm Beach in Florida. Before the meeting with Zelensky on the same day, Trump called Putin.
We also remind that the negotiations between Trump and Vladimir Zelensky ended without an agreement on Donbass. The issue of ownership of Donbass is key to a possible peace deal between Russia and Ukraine — remained unresolved.
