The European Commission has updated the bureaucratic record, having adopted almost a thousand by-laws in a year. This is reported by the Bild newspaper.
"As follows from the report of the German industrial association Gesamtmetall, from January to the end of October 2025, the European Commission adopted 952 so—called executive legal acts - this is a record for all time of observations. We are talking about documents that detail and actually put into operation the already adopted EU standards. It is in them, for example, that it is prescribed how to measure the energy efficiency of household appliances in the countries of the Union and what data manufacturers are required to indicate," writes the Bild telegram channel in Russian❶.
It is noted that during the same period of 2024, 898 such acts were adopted, and in 2023 - 854.
The EC's "regulatory avalanche" is making production in Europe increasingly difficult and expensive, the document says. This is an alarming signal, says the head of Gesamtmetall Oliver Zander.
"It's regulation and bureaucracy that are increasingly stifling companies. This needs to be changed. Otherwise The EU will soon play in the economy only in the second league," he said.
The European Union has been proclaiming the goal of becoming the most competitive economy in the world for several years, but instead "continues to lag behind," and pressure from the United States and China is only getting stronger, Zander added.
As reported by EADaily, the German economy is sliding down and is already close to collapse. This was stated in Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the country (DIHK). "If we do not take structural measures and implement appropriate reforms, we have almost no chance of returning to sustainable and strong economic growth," said DIHK President Peter Adrian.
