Negotiations between the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and the head of Vladimir Zelensky's office, Andrei Ermak, in Turkey have been canceled, Economist correspondent Oliver Carroll said on his page on the social network X.
On Tuesday, Reuters reported that Witkoff plans to visit Turkey on Wednesday and take part in talks with Zelensky.
"As far as I know, tomorrow's talks between Witkoff and Ermak in Turkey have been canceled. I was told that Witkoff may not have realized the scandal he was getting himself into when he made the appointment," Carroll wrote.
The head of the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration, Burhanettin Duran, said earlier that the negotiation process of the Russian Federation and Ukraine will be on the agenda of discussions during Zelensky's visit to Turkey scheduled for Wednesday.
