Due to the unfavorable situation in the fuel market in Mongolia is looking for alternative options for importing petroleum products to Russia. The most suitable is China.

"Russia has promised to continue uninterrupted fuel supplies. However, the Chinese side offered to hold regular negotiations on procurement, and they could supply a sufficient amount," said the Minister of Industry and Natural Resources of Mongolia, Gongoryn Damdinnyam, Interfax reports with reference to Mongolian media.

According to the minister, concrete steps will be discussed at a government meeting to be held in the near future.

"The action plan of the Government of Mongolia aims to maintain fuel reserves for 3-6 months. This requires funding in the amount of $ 2 billion. In addition, in connection with the construction of an oil refinery, reserve tankers are needed," the minister said.

Russia is the main supplier of petroleum products to Mongolia, providing 95% of all supplies. At the same time, due to unscheduled repairs of the refinery, a ban on the export of gasoline is in effect until the end of the year and until the end of October - on the supply of diesel fuel abroad from non—producers.
