American Patriot air defense systems are not able to prevent missile attacks on targets on Ukraine, as the missiles began to evade interceptors. This is reported by The Washington Post.
So the publication commented on today's night massive combined attack of the Russian Armed Forces.
"The American Patriot complexes are the only air defense systems that can reliably intercept Russian ballistic missiles… According to experts, even these systems have not been able to intercept some recent attacks, including on Kiev, partly because Russia continues to improve its missiles to evade these systems," the publication says.
It is noted that Israel recently transferred one Patriot system to Ukraine, and Kiev expects several more from its European partners this fall. However, most likely, dozens of systems will be required to create at least some semblance of an air shield over the country, the newspaper notes.
