According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Poland is the "raspberry giant" of the entire European Union. But, unfortunately, as the publication writes Gazeta.Pl local farmers are not entirely happy with this, and some government measures outrage them.

According to data published by the National Center for Agricultural Support, raspberries are the third largest variety of berries grown in Poland. It will account for 16% of the berry harvest in 2024 (after strawberries and currants). The country is also a European and world leader in the cultivation of raspberries. In the EU, Polish production accounts for a staggering 44%. In 2024, domestic production reached 76,900 tons. Portugal took the second place with 35,700 tons (20% share), and Spain — the third with 30,200 tons (17%).

In other countries In the EU, these figures were significantly lower. On a global scale, this trio is second only to three other manufacturers — Russia, Mexico and Serbia. Unfortunately, raspberry producers are unhappy with many government measures.

Due to the deterioration of the economic situation in rural areas, trade union activists presented a detailed list of requirements and identified those responsible for the current situation. They also announced a possible general strike in case of non-compliance with the requirements. Allegedly, there is practically no support for the industry, and the harvest has to be sold below cost.
