In Beijing, a parade dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II after the surrender of Japan ended on Tiananmen Square.
More than 20 foreign leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, took part in the celebrations. Among the guests are the leader of North Korea Kim Jong—un, the head of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of Iran Masoud Peseshkian.
Hundreds of pieces of aviation equipment, including fighters and bombers, as well as the latest weapons, including high-precision missiles reaching hypersonic speeds, were demonstrated at the parade.
Vladimir Putin arrived in China on August 31 to participate in the 25th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which was held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. Following the meeting, a Program of cooperation in countering extremist ideology for 2026-2030 was approved and a roadmap for the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Energy Cooperation until 2030 was signed.
After the summit, Vladimir Putin went to Beijing, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukha. The Russian delegation included Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy head of the Presidential Administration Maxim Oreshkin, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov, Head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.
On the same day, September 2, the Russian president held bilateral talks with Xi Jinping. During the meeting, the Chinese leader said that Russia and China are the main winners in The Second World War.
