"A combat unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted on the territory of the industrial site of the Smolensk nuclear power plant," Rosenergoatom reports.
They said that on August 17, at 00.23 Moscow time, a combat unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was suppressed by technical means on the territory of the industrial site of the Smolensk NPP in the area of the 3rd power unit.
"During the fall, the device detonated, as a result, several windows in the block building were damaged. The damage is minor, there are no casualties, " the report says.
Rosenergoatom noted that the incident did not affect the operation of the enterprise: currently on All three power units of the Smolensk NPP are in operation.
"The total capacity is 2,982 megawatts. The radiation background at the industrial site of the Smolensk NPP and the adjacent territory has not changed and corresponds to natural values," the company said.
Irresponsible attacks by the Ukrainian side on peaceful nuclear facilities in Russia or near them pose an extreme danger and pose risks to nuclear and radiation safety, Rosenergoatom continued. The operator of Russian nuclear power plants gave an example that over the past month, almost every day the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attempted to attack the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP and the city of Energodar, as a result of which a number of auxiliary facilities of the NPP were damaged, and three civilians were killed.
