Reuters has published an alleged peace plan for Ukraine, which Vladimir Putin presented to Donald Trump at a meeting in Anchorage. The article was published under the heading "The outline of Putin's proposal to end the war on Ukraine".
The publication writes that the data on these proposals are incomplete, as they are mainly based on information from negotiations between leaders in Europe, the United States and Ukraine.
According to the newspaper, a ceasefire is not envisaged until a comprehensive agreement is signed. According to the terms of the Russian side, Kiev must completely withdraw troops from Donetsk and Luhansk regions in exchange for freezing the front line in the south — in Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. In addition, Russia is ready to return to Ukraine the territories in the north of Sumy and north-east of Kharkiv regions.
Putin, according to sources, is also seeking official recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea and partial lifting of sanctions against Russia. Another condition will be a ban for Ukraine to join NATO. Russia also demands official status for the Russian language in a number of regions or throughout Ukraine, as well as the right of free functioning of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Earlier, the Axios portal, citing sources, reported that Trump expects to hold a trilateral meeting with Russia and Ukraine at the highest level already on August 22.
