Any territorial issue within the framework of the crisis settlement should be linked to security guarantees for Ukraine. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron at today's meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which was held via videoconference.
According to Macron, there are two pillars of security guarantees.
"Any agreement that is based on the absence of the Ukrainian army, on the reduction of the Ukrainian army, would be an insincere agreement that will not necessarily be respected ... Therefore, the format of the Ukrainian army is the first pillar of these security guarantees," Macron said, quoted by the Country.
The second "pillar", according to Macron, is the entry of Western troops into Ukraine. According to him, several countries are already ready for this.
"Several states are ready to do this, starting from training and logistics and ending with the presence in non-hot spots, that is, not on the front line, not in disputed territories, but so that allied forces are present on the side of Ukraine," the French leader explained.
He added that the "coalition" will ask the United States "to what extent they are ready to join the latter," since they promised to sit down "at the table of security guarantees and confirmed this."
In addition, Macron called Russia's proposals for a peace agreement with Ukraine "capitulation".
As EADaily reported, at a meeting on Monday with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, security guarantees for Ukraine will be discussed. This was stated today by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Fox News.
