Jeffrey Hinton, known as the "godfather of artificial intelligence," fears that the technology he created could destroy humanity, as reported by CNN.
Hinton believes that technology companies are taking the wrong steps to prevent this. Experts are sure that his opinion should be listened to, as Hinton is known for his pioneering work in the field of neural networks, which paved the way for the modern boom in artificial intelligence.
"In 2023, he left Google and started talking openly about the dangers of artificial intelligence," CNN notes.
The scientist and Nobel laureate previously warned that the probability that artificial intelligence will displace people is 10-20%.
A few days ago, Hinton expressed doubts about how technology companies are trying to ensure the "dominance" of people in artificial intelligence systems.
"It's not going to work. They will be much smarter than us. They will have a lot of ways to get around this," he said at the Ai4 industry conference in Las Vegas.
Hinton also warned that in the future, AI "will be able to control people as easily as an adult can bribe a three-year-old child with candy."
