Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Magadan before a meeting scheduled for Friday with American leader Donald Trump in Alaska, RIA Novosti reports.
The distance between Magadan and Anchorage, where the Russian-American summit will be held, is about 3 thousand kilometers or almost 2 thousand miles in a straight line. Flight time between cities is about four hours.
Putin last visited the Magadan region in December 2011, as prime minister. Before that, he came to the region in November 2005. Then the president held a meeting here on the development of the gold mining industry, visited the Magadan border detachment and inspected the new sports and recreation complex.
