US President Donald Trump signed a decree imposing an additional duty of 25% on goods from India. This was announced today, August 6, according to the White House website.
The White House said that the total duties from the United States for India will be 50%, as well as for Brazil. The additional mark-up on goods for India is related to the purchase of Russian oil, the statement said.
"Goods from India imported into the customs territory of the United States are subject to an additional duty of 25%... This rate applies to goods received for consumption or removed from the warehouse for consumption at 00.01 Eastern Summer Time (07.00 Moscow Time) or after that date 21 days after the date of this order," it says. in the document.
