US submarines are already on combat duty, this is an ongoing process. This was announced today, August 4, by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the order of US President Donald Trump to send two nuclear submarines to the "relevant regions."
The promise to move the submarines sounded after a skirmish with the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev in social networks, where he reminded Trump of the "dead hand" — the system of nuclear response to a possible US strike on Russia.
"In this case, it is obvious that American submarines are already on combat duty. This is an ongoing process," Peskov said.
He also added that Moscow is careful about statements related to nuclear issues and believes that everyone should be careful with this topic.
"We are very careful about any statements related to nuclear issues ... and, of course, we believe that everyone should be very, very careful with nuclear rhetoric," Peskov said.
At the same time, the Kremlin is not particularly surprised by Trump's reaction to the controversy with Dmitry Medvedev.
"We do not think that now we are talking about some kind of escalation. It is clear that very complex, very sensitive substances are being discussed, which, of course, are perceived by many very emotionally," Peskov said.
