Belarusians and Russians will not be recognized as winners of the Vilnius Marathon, even if they reach the finish line first. This was stated by the organizers of the event.
It is reported that internal rules prevent recognizing Russians and Belarusians as winners, as they prohibit mentioning Russia and Belarus. Moreover, if a Russian and a Belarusian still want to run the distance, they will be obliged to make "written apologies for the conflict on Ukraine and their countries." However, this can be avoided by simply paying 65 euros.
Recall, the Lithuanian authorities condemn Russia's actions on Ukraine, and with them the support of Moscow from Minsk. At the same time, in 2024, Belarusians and Russians without a residence permit, in principle, could not register for the half marathon in Vilnius.
