Russian-language schools are being closed in Azerbaijan. Parents say that WhatsApp groups associated with schools have received appropriate notifications, Oxu. Az reports.
According to the publication, Russian-language schools will be closed in stages.
"The decision is aimed at strengthening the position of the Azerbaijani language as the main language of education and integrating all citizens into a single educational environment," the publication says.
It is planned that within three years Russian-speaking schools will switch to teaching in the Azerbaijani language, retraining courses for teachers will be organized.
