According to the Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov, the spread of herd locust pests on an area of 2.1 million hectares is projected this year. 7.1 billion tenge (1.1 billion rubles) was allocated from the republican budget for the fight.

As of May 10, the spread of the harmful insect was detected on 267.2 thousand hectares of agricultural land, of which 244.5 thousand hectares were subjected to chemical treatment.
