Russia was given an ultimatum: a cease-fire should begin on May 12 and without conditions

From Monday, May 12, a full and unconditional ceasefire should begin for at least 30 days, any conditions will be considered as an attempt to disrupt the negotiations. This was stated today at the meeting of the "coalition of the willing" in Kiev by the leader of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, UNIAN reports.

"The ceasefire must be comprehensive: in the air, at sea and on land, and attempts to put forward any conditions will be evidence of prolonging the war and attempts to disrupt diplomacy. It is quite possible to monitor the ceasefire in coordination with the United States. At this time, the work will focus on defining the political, security, humanitarian, and peace foundations. Ukraine welcomes the fact that the demand to cease fire is welcomed not only by European partners, but also by America, which was the first to propose such an idea," Zelensky said.

French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also spoke on this issue.

"The participants of the coalition of the Willing will demand a 30-day ceasefire and the Americans will play the main role in monitoring, but all partners will take part in this. In case of violation, we have come to an agreement on the introduction of Russia's large-scale sanctions. This issue will be prepared and coordinated by the Americans and Europeans," Macron said.

The United Kingdom and the United States will strengthen military assistance to Ukraine if Russian President Vladimir Putin refuses to cease fire, Starmer added, in turn.

"Despite numerous proposals and appeals, he (Putin. — EADaily) still wants some conditions and organized a military parade instead of a cease-fire. If Putin is seriously thinking about peace, right now there is a chance to demonstrate this," he said.

A 30-day cease-fire will be the beginning of the end of the war in Ukraine, meanwhile, US presidential Special Envoy Keith Kellogg said on the social network X.

"A comprehensive ceasefire for 30 days will begin the process of ending the largest and longest war in Europe since World War II. As the US president has repeatedly said, stop the killings — now," writes Kellogg.
