Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance is enshrined in NATO documents and only a unanimous decision of all allies can change the course. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Justice Olga Stefanishina.
"In the summer of 2024, all the member states of the alliance, including the United States and the EU states, came to an agreement: there is no other option except full membership of Ukraine. Ukraine's membership is irreversible... the officially adopted decision is recorded in NATO documents. Now it remains to be seen when we will return to this discussion," Stefanyshina said, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
As reported by EADaily, US President Donald Trump said that Kiev should abandon hopes of joining NATO. "I don't think they will ever be able to join NATO," Trump said in an interview with Time magazine. Trump noted that the Ukrainian conflict began precisely because of Ukraine's desire to join the military bloc. Hungary also opposes Ukraine's accession to the alliance. At the same time, the decision to include it in the block must be unanimous.
