According to the interlocutor, the exchange of missile strikes took place at a distance sometimes exceeding 160 kilometers.
CNN noted that it was one of the "largest and longest in the recent history of aviation" battles.
The Pakistani side claims to have shot down five Indian Air Force aircraft, while the Indian side confirmed the fall of only two.
"An Indian Air Force pilot was shot down in Pakistan and shown on television before he was returned to India," CNN reports.
As stated in Delhi, India carried out targeted strikes on the locations of militants of one of the Islamic groups in Kashmir, which carried out the shooting of tourists in the Indian zone of the disputed state.
