Those who oppose negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff compared with lemmings jumping off a cliff. He stated this in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.
"If you don't behave like a lemming and don't jump off a cliff with the others, you will be attacked," Witkoff said, quoted by Rossiya-1 presenter Olga Skabeeva in her telegram channel.
"Previously, only the smartest people in the country went to the KGB. He's super smart, OK? If you don't want to give him credit for it, okay, that's okay. But I give him credit for it," the special envoy stressed (quoted by TASS).
He explained that this was how he answered a question from an official from the Donald Trump administration.
It was about his meeting with Putin in Moscow, which took place recently.
"I think it was very kind of Putin to receive me," Witkoff said.
According to him, Putin and US leader Donald Trump "will meet in the coming months."
