The representative of the European Commission, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, said that the Nord Stream project should comply with current legislation. RIA Novosti informs about this today, March 3.
Thus, the European politician commented on the information about the possible resumption of the project with the participation of the United States. In the meantime, according to her, it does not meet the interests of the EU.
"This project is not in line with common interests, it does not contribute to the diversification of energy supplies, and gas has never been supplied through this pipeline. Our position is that this gas pipeline, if it were launched and started working, would have to work in accordance with international and European legislation," Itkonen made such a statement at a briefing in Brussels.
EADaily previously reported that the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, stated that there were no decisions and contacts on Nord Stream 2.
