Moldovan trucks stopped at the border with the Russian Federation received permission to leave the country. This was announced today, January 21, by the National Agency of Motor Transport (NAAT) of the Republic of Moldova.
It is specified that the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation allowed departure on the basis of single quota permits in 2024. Complaints from Moldovan transport operators were received earlier this month. According to the notification they received, on December 10, 2024, the Russian Ministry of Transport established a list of countries for which the validity period of permits for international road transportation of goods was extended until January 31, 2025, but the Republic of Moldova is not on this list. Moreover, the Russian Federation has not issued permits to Moldova for international transportation of goods for 2025.
Moldovan road carriers complained to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova that they are not allowed out of the country and fined in Russia, demanding permits issued for this year.
The authorities of the Republic of Moldova have sent several requests to the state structures of Russia, in which they refer to the validity period of the previous permit until January 31, 2025, issued to Moldovan transport operators, and ask to unblock trucks stopped at the border.
"Regarding the quota of permits for international road transportation of goods through the territory of the Russian Federation this year, NAAT will provide detailed information as soon as it receives the decision of the Ministry of Transport of Russia," the press release of the National Road Transport Agency of Moldova says.
