The Pentagon's statements about the possibility of a limited exchange of nuclear strikes with Russia will lead to a global catastrophe, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said.
"Let me remind you that all the states of the nuclear Five signed in a joint statement on January 3, 2022 that a nuclear war cannot be won and should not be unleashed. This is the position of both our country and the United States," he drew attention in an interview kp.ru .
"Talking about a limited exchange of nuclear strikes is an invitation to a global catastrophe," Grushko said, answering the question whether such statements by the US Department of Defense could be considered a bluff.
In November, a representative of the Strategic Command (STRATCOM) US Rear Admiral Thomas Buchanan issued a statement that the United States, although not seeking an exchange of nuclear strikes, is ready for such a scenario "on the most acceptable terms." He called Washington's leadership in the world such conditions.
