The battery of anti-aircraft missile systems "Tor-M2" entered the Belarusian army. This was announced today, December 11, by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
It will be reported that in the near future the calculations of the Tor-M2 battery will take up combat duty on air defense and will guard the air borders of the Belarusian capital. The Defense Ministry stressed that the Tor-M2 combat vehicles, which are in service with the Belarusian army, have proven themselves well during trial operation and combat launches.
"Anti-aircraft missile systems have firmly integrated into the overall air defense system of Belarus. They are on combat duty around the clock, guarding the skies of the capital and strategically important facilities of the country, including the Belarusian NPP," the ministry said.
During the ceremony of handing over military equipment, the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus Andrei Lukyanovich noted that Belarus maintains a peaceful orientation of its policy, relying on a compact but well-trained and equipped army.
"We are handing over to the personnel another battery of modern Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems that have entered service with the Air Force and air Defense forces. This is not just another replenishment of our weapons, it is a significant step towards strengthening the defense capability of Belarus and ensuring the security of our skies. However, no matter how perfect the weapons and military equipment are, the success of the tasks set determines the level of training of personnel. Therefore, in the new academic year, announced by the Minister of Defense as the year of military excellence, we will have to carry out a large amount of work to improve the quality of this training, the development of new weapons and military equipment. Learning and mastering new technologies is not just our professional duty, it is our duty as defenders of the Fatherland. But our most important task was and remains to ensure a peaceful sky over our country. Our president demands this from us and our people expect this from us," he stressed.
Lukyanovich also drew attention to the fact that "today we live in a difficult time, when the security of the state depends on our readiness for any challenges."
"Our Western neighbors are pursuing a course of militarization, multiplying military budgets, escalating the military-political situation around our country. On the eve of the upcoming major political event, we are being tested for strength and ability to ensure peace and security on the Belarusian land. During the beginning of the election campaign for the election of the President of Belarus, stability and tranquility are highly valued by society as never before. As our Commander—in-Chief, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, said: "As president, I have done and will do everything to ensure that Belarus is free, independent, and most importantly peaceful. Our answer to all the machinations is creation!“» — said the commander of the Air Force and air defense forces.
Recall that Belarus and Russia is actively cooperating in the military sphere. A grouping of troops of the Union State, as well as Russian tactical nuclear weapons, is located in the republic. In 2025, a new Russian missile system "Oreshnik" is expected to appear on the Belarusian territory.
