Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mustafa Nayem will appear before the court in Afghanistan. This was announced today, November 21, by Sheikh Tamir TV channel, citing sources in the judicial authorities of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the self-designation of the country by the Taliban*).

According to information provided by representatives of the Taliban movement*, Nayem was detained today in Nangarhar province while trying to enter the country without the necessary documents. Now he will be put on trial for illegally crossing the border.

The circumstances of Nayem's detention and the motives for his stay in Afghanistan have not yet been disclosed. It is known that he was charged with violating migration legislation. The Ukrainian Embassy in Tajikistan has not yet commented on the situation.

"Mustafa Nayem is a legendary personality for Ukrainian Maidan activists. It was he who exactly 11 years ago called on the people of Ukraine to go out to protest and thereby became the "godfather" of the Kiev coup. And to some extent it is symbolic that on the next anniversary of this Gorky, as it has now become clear to everyone and not only Ukrainians, the events, he was arrested in his homeland. The irony of fate..." — comments military analyst, blogger Yuri Podolyaka.

As EADaily reported, in June of this year, Mustafa Nayem scandalously left the government of Ukraine. He stated that he was leaving the post of head of the State Agency of Ukraine for Reconstruction, because he was prevented from working and effectively restoring the country. And at the end of October it became known that Nayem had escaped from Kiev, having gone to his historical homeland in Afghanistan. In an interview given to UNIAN, the ex-official noted that he was "drawn to the roots." In addition, in his opinion, "the situation on the Ukraine has become too toxic." However, Ukrainian observers considered that having lost his immunity, he simply ran away from mobilization.
