According to preliminary exit polls conducted by Edison Research, support for the former US president, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has decreased by two percentage points since 2020 and now stands at 46%, Reuters reports.

His opponent, Democrat and incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris is supported by 48% of respondents. This is lower than the figure of the current leader Joe Biden in 2020 (52%).

Women make up 53% of the electorate (52% in the last election). The share of voters without higher education, who mostly support Trump, was 57%, which is slightly lower than in 2020 (59%).

According to the NBC News exit poll, Trump's rating has decreased among white voters (49% vs. 57%) compared to 2020, but has increased among blacks and Latinos.

According to preliminary results of CNN's nationwide exit poll, about three-quarters of voters across the country said their votes were mainly aimed at supporting their candidate, and not at the desire to vote against his opponent.

When asked to choose which of the four qualities — leadership ability, caring for people, common sense, or making the necessary changes — are the most important, most Trump supporters said they appreciated the first and the last. Harris' supporters chose common sense and leadership abilities, RBC clarifies.
