The situation with the Russian military aircraft off the island of Hokkaido poses a threat to Japan's national security. About this at a press conference in Tokyo was announced by the Secretary General of the Japanese government, Yoshimasa Hayashi, according to TASS.
"We believe that this is not only a serious violation of our country's sovereignty, but also a threat to our security. This is completely unacceptable," he said.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Japan, the Russian IL-38 aircraft entered Japanese airspace three times near the island of Hokkaido. F-35 fighters of the Japanese Air Force were raised to intercept it.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that all flights of Russian military aviation are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.
